Who We Are, Our Mission and Purpose

ABOUT US

The Anderson County Flywheelers are a never-a-dull-moment, fun-loving, entertaining bunch of rural tractor and antique gas engine enthusiasts doing our part to keep this important cultural experience alive for generations to come by highlighting these educational aspects:   

  • Emphasize historical education: Stress the importance of teaching visitors, especially younger generations, about the evolution of agricultural technology and its impact on society.
  • Focus on hands-on learning: Highlighting the value of interactive demonstrations and exhibitions that allow people to experience and understand how antique farm machinery works.
  • Promote intergenerational knowledge transfer: Emphasizing the importance of connecting older members who have expertise with younger enthusiasts to pass down knowledge and skills.
  • Showcase the link between past and present: To illustrate how understanding historical agricultural practices and machinery can inform current and future farming innovations.   
  • Emphasize STEM education: Highlight how the restoration and operation of antique machinery can teach valuable lessons in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
  • Stressing the importance of preserving cultural heritage: Frame the organization's work as crucial for maintaining a connection to the community's agricultural roots and history.

OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION  

The mission of the Anderson County Flywheelers is to cultivate a passion for agricultural history and foster a welcoming environment where members can connect over their shared enthusiasm for antique farm machinery, engaging both fellow collectors and the public at large. We are dedicated to preserving the legacy of agriculture by sharing these interests, particularly with younger generations, ensuring that this vital aspect of our heritage endures for the future.

OUR PURPOSE

The Anderson County Flywheelers is dedicated to celebrating and preserving our agricultural and industrial heritage. Our purpose is to:

1. Encourage the collection, restoration, and preservation of historical machinery, including:

· Gas and steam tractors

· Stationary engines (both gas and steam-powered)

· Antique farm equipment

· Early local industrial machinery

2. Host and organize events showcasing exhibitions and demonstrations of these restored machines, showcasing their historical significance and operational capabilities.

3. Educate the public about the crucial role these tools and machines have played in advancing human productivity and quality of life.

4. Highlight how innovations in agriculture and industry have allowed humanity to progress beyond mere subsistence, enabling the pursuit of intellectual and cultural endeavors.

5. Foster an appreciation for the ingenuity and craftsmanship of our ancestors, connecting past innovations to present-day advancements.

By preserving and sharing this mechanical heritage, we aim to inspire future generations to value the history of technological progress and its impact on human development.
